When used to support live performances and concerts, profile LED units are designed for consistent spreads and angles. The luminaries provide a fixed-beam with constant width measurements. In order to manipulate the beams (making them larger or smaller), operators must move the entire fixture. However, it is possible to adjust the lens. This allows the creation of soft or hard edges on the light beam during operation.


Newer versions of profile LED spotlights come with a robust lens, which can be adjusted to widen or tighten the width of the beam. Moreover, some units feature different zoom ranges, such as settings of 15 degrees and 35 degrees, as well as settings of 30 degrees and 40 degrees. These beam angles are still within the range of spotlight beams and are particularly useful for highlighting multiple objects or characters in a single scene.

A major advantage of using profile LED spotlights is positioning at far distances. Operators can position the lights from far locations, which offers more space for equipment around the stage.
